November in Barcelona

The first november is the all saints’day, also known as the day of the dead, people go to the cemetery to visit their beloved persons who died but it is also the day that starts the salmon festival.

And no, it is not about the fish !!! It is about dances which the goal is to show different ways to move and to dance. It lasts 2 weeks and it takes place at the Mercat de les Flors (calle lleida 59), to know more, check its official website (no english).

Do you like chestnut ?? If so, you are lucky because it is also the season that you can buy hot chestnuts on the street and hot sweet potatoes in little wooden house stands. It is a spanish tradition and it lasts the full month

For manga fans, you have to go to the fira of Barcelona (avinguda reina maria cristina 2-16) for the manga fair that lasts the four first days. To know more, here the official website.

You are coming with your kids, the second weekend is celebrating the striped and stitch festival at the CCCB (calle montalegre 5). The goal is to promote the art side of your children between 6 and 12 years old. Here it is official website if you want to know more.

The second saturday is the mira festival dedicated to the audiovisual and electronic music at the Fabrica de Creacio Fabra i Coats (calle sant adrià 18-24) from 16h until 2h30, for more information, check its official website.

If you are thinking to make some change in your house, you can go to the decoration and interior design exhibition the second thursday and friday called casa décor. To know more, here its official website (no english).

In situ is a festival of contemporary dance which is celebrated during 2 days starting the third friday at Arts Santa Monica Center (calle la rambla 7). To know the program, check its official website.

From the third thursday until the next sunday, it is the week of the science and it is a good opportunity to discover the science museum cosmocaixa (calle isaac newton 26) totally free. To know what you will see inside, check its official website.

For people who don’t like especially the electronic music, the millenni festival is for you, it is a festival of music but of all kinds and it starts the third monday until the end of the month of may of the next year. If you want to know if your kids have gift for actors, bring them to the més petit de tots festival from the third saturday to the last sunday at the mercat de les flors (calle lleida 59), to know more, click click here. The mural festival, also known as the graffiti festival, is celebrated only 2 days starting at the fourth friday at the Fabrica de Creacio Escocesa (calle pere IV 345). To know more, click here.

The fourth thursday is the celebration of the shopping night, as you may guess, shops are opened very late, until 1h AM. If you want to know if some shops are doing something special, check this website.

Starting the last sunday and until the 23 of december, there is the christmas fair called fira de santa llucia located in front of the cathedral of Barcelona. You will be able to buy gifts and different figurines and things to decorate your crib and the famous caganer, a figurine representing someone making a poo.
