300 and The Fountain, movies in blu-ray
300: movie from Zack Snyder based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley with Gerard Butler, Lena Headey. For people who didn't watch yet this movie, a quick resume.
"In 480 B.C. a state of war exists between Persia, led by King Xerxes, and Greece. At the battle of Thermopylae, Leonidas, king of the Greek city state of Sparta, leads his badly outnumbered warriors against the massive Persian army."
The movie is based from an historical event (the battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC) about the king of Sparta, Leonidas who led his army to fight against the Persian empire at the pass of Thermopylae in central Greece. Vastly outnumbered, they have been able to stand against his enemy during 3 days before to be betrayed by a local resident who showed the persians a mountain path which led behind the greek lines. Leonidas dismissed around 2300 soldiers and he stayed with his 300 spartan soldiers to defend the lines. The persians succeeded to defeat Leonidas and his 300 spartans but their death had allowed Athens to prepare for the final battle and to win it.

The movie has a lot of visual effects and some scenes are directly from the graphic novel. It is really a real pleasure to watch it, of course if you like this kind of movie. And if really you didnt watch it, you have to. When i watched this movie in theater, i was in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and i like it a lot.
The Fountain: movie from Darren Aronofsky with Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz. Following a quick resume.
"The Fountain is an odyssey about one man's thousand-year struggle to save the woman he loves. As a 16th century Conquistador, a modern-day scientist, and a 26th century astronaut, he searches for the secret to eternal life."

To be more explicit, the movie tells the story of a man who tries to save the woman he loves through the time - past, present and future. In the 16th century in Spain, the man is a conquistador who is at the pursuit of the fountain of youth to save his queen he loves. In the present, the man is a scientific who seeks a way to cure the cancer of his wife. In the 26th century, the man is an astronaut who travels through the space in order to discover the mysteries which haunts him since centuries. At the end, the 3 men who are only 1 will find the peace, the love, the death and the rebirth.
The movie has stunning visual effects and it is really an odyssey which will conduct you through the time and to make you travel in an impressive travel through space. When i watched it, i liked the story and i was so stunned by the beauty of this movie that i told myself that i must have this movie in my collection.
I already bought The Fountain in blu-ray (if you are interested, click on the Amazon picture above) and i am waiting to buy 300 in the same format because i read somewhere that they are going to put in the market a special box for this winter. And really, it is worth to watch them in full HD.
