The first time, I listened her, was on TV not in the MTV channel or something like that but at the news when, before to say goodbye, the journalist was introducing her as the new singer of the moment on internet !!!! Born at Malaga in 1988, Ana López (her real name) has an impressive crystal voice that I liked it at the first moment I heard her singing “la la la”. Since her young age, she composed herself her songs expressing her emotion and her feeling. Bought one month in advance for 17€, her concert took place last friday night, april 23 at the Casyc theatre located at Santander (no date for Barcelona) to sing songs from her album “Start, |
Restart, Undo” released in 2009 and 3 inedited. An acoustic style mixing between melancholy, folk and indie pop, she song completely in english because simply she wrote them in this language.

Her debuts as singer weren’t in solo but with different bands until she decided to continue her adventure alone. Starting to open an account on MySpace and uploading her first songs, Anni B Sweet started quickly to spread her name on internet and now on tour all over Spain.
The concert started at 20h30 but her performance has been scheduled for 22h. The first part has been performed by a band called Templeton. Not bad but not the kind of music I like, singing melodramatic popular song, the band performed great in the scene and ended around 21h20. Meanwhile technicians were working to change the scene by putting some instruments, remove some, check the sound, equipments… for the next show, I just stayed sitting there, not really willing to miss her entrance and I did it well.

Her natural way to sing in english is because she studied in a british college and the only song in spanish “tumbado en mi moqueta azul” is written by César Fernández, a member of the band The Melocotons. She went out of the scene before the schedule time, around 21h40 so hopefully, I didn’t went out to take a drink or eat something like some people.

Entered first alone like an angel with a white dress, she performed the first song with her guitar, her crystal voice just teleported to anyone into a wonderful world and just before ending it, the rest of her band just got in the scene to offer an outstanding performance until around 22h45.

But don’t think that she only plays guitar, she also knows harmonica and she demonstrated it well yesterday on the scene. I was grateful to hear that the 3rd song was “la la la”, one of my favorites. Slowly but gracefully, her voice and her fingers started it joining just seconds after by a fantastic touch of drums to invite the others to play.
Talking to us, she told us that she was happy to be in Santander because she lived here, eager to see friends, her former roommate… and for that, she was a little nervous to sing in this theatre but nervous or not, she was amazing. Performing all her songs including “take on me”, a song (1985) from the band A-Ha, she ended around 21h20 but people was screaming “otra, otra, otra” so when the last song ended, the rest of the band went out of the scene and standing alone, she performed an inedited song before to leave the scene too.

In spite of that, we wanted more and started again to scream “otra, otra, otra”… few minutes later, coming out with her band, she song another inedited and…. “otra, otra, otra”, nervous, laughing… she told us with a little voice “vale pero la ultima” (OK but last one).

More or less, we got 25 minutes more with 3 inedited songs. I really recommend strongly to anyone to buy her album and to go to her concert, of course if you like this kind of music. Before to end my topic, watch her performance on “take on me”.
