Santoña is a village located in Cantabria near Santander where it is not only famous for its local festivities like its carnival but also to organize some events during the year like its spring festival of theatre. The point is that if you are reading this topic, it is to know about Christina and not about this village, no !!! So I will tell you the story of Santoña in one of my future topics, for now, let’s me explained you the relation between this village and this singer. Well it is very simpler, she did a concert the friday may, 15th at the place “sala tropical club” located in this village and guess what ?? I was there to hear her nice voice. |
Christina Rosenvinge is a spanish singer who was born at Madrid may, 29th 1964 from a danish father and an english mother. Not only as a simple singer, she also composes her own songs in a style of pop/rock.

She became famous in 1991 when she created a band with friends called “Christina y los Subterráneos” above all in South America like Colombia, Peru, Paraguay, Venezuela, Panama, Bolivia, Argentine, Mexico, Chile and Uruguay. Majority of her lyrics are about culpability and pain with a particular melody which express a deep feeling of sadness. The band separated in 1994 and it was in this period that she started to participate in various productions as soloist until 1997 when she came back in the scene alone with an album called “cerrado” – mixing spanish and english songs. In 1999, she decided to move in New York where she did some concerts in some locals before to publish her first album in english in 2001 called “frozen pool”. Getting good critics from the specialized press, she did a tour around US and Europe. Respectively, she would not come back to her spanish origin not before 2007 with an album called “verano fatal” of 7 songs in collaboration with Nacho Vegas. Before this date, she published 2 more albums in english - “foreign land” (2002) and “continental 62” (2006). “Verano fatal” was considered as a great album since both participations demonstrated a perfect complementary in harmony, voice and feeling. november, 4th 2008 came out her last work “tu labio superior”, an alone album totally in spanish and the performance during the concert at Santoña included a lot of songs from this album. The concert started with a “little” delay around 22h40 instead of 21h15 as scheduled.

The price was 15€ except if you bought the ticket in advance (13€) and I didn’t. Meanwhile doing the line, I could hear a voice singing doing some test and it was not before 22h20 that the place opened its doors to let me and also others to buy the ticket and get in. 20 minutes later, she came out from a back door to go to the scene under the applause of the public. Standing up and putting the guitar around her neck, she did some adjustments meanwhile her companion sat beside her with a chelo.
When all ready, the sound of the instruments echoed in the room emerging with her beautiful voice and everyone, who was anxious to hear her, was able to enjoy her songs. In some occasions before to start a new one, she told us a little history about some particular moment of her life and how the idea came out to write the song.
The concert lasted more or less 1h where I could see her performed also with piano and in some songs, with a tambourine in her right feet meanwhile playing with guitar. When she left the scene and disappeared behind the back door, everyone was staying a little more shouting and applauding in a way to ask her to come back for a last song but when we saw a man starting to remove all the stuffs, some started to move and some stayed just to finish their drink or to take another.
Anyway, the concert was great and before to get out of the place around 23h50, my girlfriend took advantage to buy her last album for 14€.

Beside to be singer, she participated in some movies like actress in “todo es mentira” (1994) and in “la pistola de mi hermano” (1997).
