Today it is the release of Windows 7 and in Spain, Microsoft selected a town called Sietes to promote its new system. A little village located in Asturias where there are only 44 citizens and majority of them are old persons and never touch a computer. Let’s say a way to demonstrate that its new system is very easy and simple !!! In spanish, the word “siete” means 7, the reason why Microsoft selected this village to celebrate Windows 7. So from today, you don’t need anymore to use the beta version although it will expire june, 1 2010. I think you don’t need me to tell you where you can buy it but you may be interested to discover this village, on this website (only in spanish), there are |
pictures and videos not only to promote the system but also the village.

If you are still using the beta version, I recommend you to desinstall it because it will expire the next month and to install the RC version.
Of course, this suggestion is valid if you like it, if not you will have to install one of the previous version. The RC (Release Candidate) version is already available and you can get it freely with your personal product key on this webpage.
You can use it until june, 1 2010 and after this date, you will have to buy the final version but take note that 2 weeks before march, 1 201, Microsoft will send you a mail saying that from this date, your PC will shut down every two hours except if you get a non-expired version.
Update July 6, 2009

Windows 7 is the new operating system of Microsoft which is scheduled to be released worldwide at the end of the year 2009 but from january 9, we can download the beta version on this following webpage and it is available until end of the month. In fact, subscribers of MSDN, TechBeta and/or TechNet can download it since yesterday.
The system has been improved a lot according to Steven A. Ballmer, Microsoft’s chief executive, during his conference at CES 2009 - a system faster and easier but also more intuitive and agil to switch between windows and an easily configuration orientated to the network and sharing.

The system will offer us more possibility to personalize like taking control of problems by choosing the messages we want to see, a new theme interface on which we can choose colors and formats, an extended battery life by selecting the right power saving features...

There are new possibilities like enjoying our music, pictures and videos from other computers running Windows 7 and other devices at home by using the new sharing technology, instead to use the mouse, we can use our fingers to scroll, resize windows, play media, zoom… using the windows touch technology if you have a touch-screen monitor, the handwriting recognition to write math expressions, create personalized custom dictionaries...
An improved taskbar where we can have a preview before to click to the icon, the jump list feature to have at hand quickly what we need, new ways to maximize a window and make all open windows transparent in one mousse move so we can have access directly to our desktop, a better device management to install or to uninstall a device, the homegroup feature which will make easier to connect to other computers and devices on a wireless home network...

Of course, a new internet explorer (version 8) and new components for windows live to make our daily life much more easier !!!
Now to know if all are true, the best is to try it. I will surely do it and if you are curious like me, you may do it too !!! But be careful, it is a beta version so the system may not work properly and 100% stable. Like I always said “at your own risk”.
Good luck, you may need it !!!
