| Entering in cold season, one of the fruits which can make us feeling good is grapes, it doesn’t matter if they are white or black, we can eat them in natural, in jus, in oil or in raisins, all own the same qualities. Grapes, particularly the black one, own flavonoids which are part of the polyphenol family, really famous for its antioxidant virtues. Exactly, it can protect our heart because of its effect on our cardiovascular system, mainly in its skin and in its pips. I know some people who don’t like the skin and each time, they eat grapes, they remove them, I think that the skin is easier to eat than the seed, especially when it is big but if we want all its benefice effects, no choice than to eat them |
entirely. Polyphenols also allow to fight against the ageing because of its free radicals, one of the reasons why many cosmetic companies use the grape extracts in some of its products.
It also owns resveratrol, an anticoagulant matter against the stream problem like the bloodstream and the cholesterol. In fact, grapes are very rich in potassium, which makes it an excellent diuretic and because of its fibers (0,7g/100g), again mainly in its skin and its pips, it facilitates the laxative action.
Another aspect of grapes is its detoxifying action, it is recommended for instance to eat regularly one bunch to be in great shape because it owns vitamins A, B and C, mineral salts and trace elements as the calcium, the iron or the magnesium.
If you don’t like the fresh one, you can eat raisins. They have the same properties and nutritionists recommend them especially for vegetarians or anaemia people (person feeling week) because of its strong iron content.
And if you are going to a market, try to choose bunches not too squeezed, grapes should be firm without marks, neither flabby and neither wrinkled. The stems must be green, flexible and breakable without being dried. To know its freshness and if it is ready to eat, make sure grapes have a silver-white bloom over skin.
