The water element is associated with emotion and the wisdom of our soul but also it is considered like yang and female. Its main color is black and its direction is the north. In feng shui, water holds the chi and it is the most plentiful element on our earth but for it to work best, it needs to move or flow - indeed, stagnant water breeds rotting. This element is used in a fountain or an aquarium but the water needs to be kept fresh, clean and moving - stagnant or moldy water is considered a “sha” or negative influence. Symbol of prosperity, a place, which is located near a water, is considered more auspicious that is why this element is often used for home. |
For example a pool or a fountain outside of your place and/or an aquarium inside can be used to enhance the energy - fishes help the water to circulate since they symbolize flow and movement. According to bagua, the fact to put an aquarium in front (near the entrance) or in back (near the bedroom) will have major impact on your wealth but the back should be kept peaceful and quiet and the front, the best place is near the door.
Additionally, the aquarium form is very important and it is recommended a circular one because the circle belongs to the metal element and this element combines well with water according to the flux of the 5 elements. Moreover, following your element, a number and kind of fishes are recommended.
For example, if you are born under the water element, you should have either 1 or 6 and a person under the earth element, either 5 or 10 - the supersition recommends 6 gold fish and 1 black fish although an aquarium don't need necessarily fish - fishes do help the water to circulate. Just keep in mind one thing, try always to combine with metal because earth as clay will block the benefits of water for instance.
In case if you have too much water energy, to balance the qi you can use either the earth element, since this one dominates water is considered strong or the wood element, considered soft like a hedge or a row of trees.
Known in China like "peach blossom", this element can also be to induce a relationship. A water person is creative, persuasive, diplomatic and intuitive but also he/she acts with assurance, strength and quiet charm. This element can strengthen existing relationships and help to create new ones.
