Zooming is very important when we want to capture one particular part of an image – for example a bee flying around a flower. It will be easier to shot the whole scene but of course, we will see the bee like a dot and not like the main character. The zoom is perfect to capture and to show our viewers what and/or which things have attracted our eyes... Depending of your professional camera, you may have a powerful zoom lens or not and it is a very decisive point because more greater, more chance to shot from far away and also to get a great picture. For digital cameras, they possess 2 kinds – optical and digital one. |
The optical zoom or zoom lens will rely on the lens itself to magnify the light coming in so that what is distant appears larger and closer in the final result. A digital zoom will take the final result and magnify it, in fact by cropping it down to a centered area with the same aspect ratio and interpolating back up to the pixel dimensions.
The fact to use its full potential, you can get a blurred picture or a photo with some noises since interpolation disturbs the original pixel and thus to the detriment of the quality.
If you don’t have a powerful zoom lens, the best it is to try to be the closest of your objective by this way, you will optimize your shot according to your position. After adjust the optical zoom from the minimum (1%) to the maximum (100%). And if you are still not satisfied, you can use the digital zoom but know that you will have more chances to get a bad picture.
The minimum you use the zoom, the best will be the photo and in the other hand, increasing it, a blurred and/or noise picture you will get. An optical zoom is much more important than a digital zoom because it produces a better quality photo so like you can guest, try always to avoid the digital zoom.
If you need an additional zoom, I recommend you to check Photosolve website, they have a lot of great products to do zooming things.
