James Bond’s beaches, sea, sun and shot

Each time there is a new James Bond’s movie, there are a lot of speculations, especially about the Bond girl but what about the beaches !!! They are a symbolic icon too.

Let’s do a quick summary about the most beautiful beaches from Dr. No until Skyfall, after all, 50 years have passed and also because beach is related with woman, at least, for Bond !!!

In Dr. No (1962), Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) came out from the sea with seashells taken from the laughing waters beach situated near the Ocho Rios town in Jamaica. One anecdote, Ian Fleming built a house on this island calling it Golden Eye converting it as his last residence.

The paradise beach in Paradise Island is where James Bond met Domino (Claudine Auger) and persuaded her to betray her secret organization in the movie Thunderball (1965). The island is linked by a bridge from New Providence situated in the Bahamas which counts 700 islands in total.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), 007 was played by George Lazenby and not by Sean Connery. The secret agent saved Tracy (Diana Rigg) from drowning on the guincho beach near to the Cascais town in Portugal.

Connery was back for Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and we can watch him talking with a young woman called Marie (Denise Perrier) then strangling her with her bra on the beach of the Cap Eden-Roc hotel in Cape Antibes.

Roger Moore replaced Sean for The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) and although the movie is set in China, the beach has been filmed on the Koh Tapu Island.

Most famously known as James Bond Island, in Phuket where the good and the bad called Scaramanga (Christopher Lee) were fighting a duel.

In The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Bond was searching a secret submarine laboratory with the help of Anya Amasova (Barbara Bach) on the cala di volpe beach situated on the Smeralda Coast of the Sardaigne Island in Corsica but the deep sea scenes have been filmed in Bahamas.

After a wild chase in boat by his enemy Jaws (Richard Kiel) in Moonraker (1979), James ended on a beach guided by a young woman where the Iguazu Falls end its journey situated at the frontier between Argentina and Brazil.

On the saint georges beach at the Corfou Island in Greece, 007 was enjoying a romantic walk with a beautiful woman in For Your Eyes Only (1981) then suddenly, they were attacked by someone driving a beach buggy.

To see a nice sunset on the beach of the San Francisco Bay in USA, you have to watch A View to a Kill (1985) at the moment when Bond got out of the oil wells and surprised a KGB agent woman leaving those wells too.

In GoldenEye (1995), it was the turn to Pierce Brosnan to say “Bond… James Bond” and we can watch him on the laguna tortuguero beach in Puerto Rico.

In company with Natalya Simonova (Izabella Scorupco), he was talking about his problem about how to fight against his friend who became his enemy.

The scene, when Jinx (Halle Berry) got out of the sea in Die Another Day (2002), has been shot in reality on the caleta beach at Cadix in Spain and not at Cuba winking at Ursula in Dr. No. The other curiosity is the surf scenes filmed at Peahi Beach in Hawaii and at Holywell Bay in England.

Daniel Craig played 007 in Casino Royale (2006) and in this movie, let’s go back to New Providence, the beach scene appears when Solange (Caterina Murino) was riding a horse not in front of the Albany House as suggested in the movie but at the west coast of the island.

Now if you are a fan of James Bond, you may already watch Skyfall but not me so time for me to do it and to enjoy a movie day.
