Manuale d´Amore 2 (manual of love 2, 2007) is a movie directed by Giovanni Veronesi with Monica Bellucci playing Lucia, Carlo Verdone as Ernesto, Riccardo Scamarcio as Nicola and Fabio Volo as Franco. This drama romance comedy film is composed of 4 love stories. Nicola falls in love for his physiotherapist Lucia. Franco and Manuela go to Barcelona for a fertility treatment. Ernesto has a liaison with his colleague Cecilia. Filippo and Fosco, 2 gays, decide to marry. This itinerary will bring you to discover 4 districts during 1 day:

From the catalunya square, you will walk towards the cathedral of Barcelona (plaza seu 3) located at the Ciutat Vella district via the portal de l´àngel avenue. Filippo and Fosco felt stressed to arrive late for their wedding although they were already late. Leaving the cathedral by the main entrance, turn left and cross the old bridge which will lead you directly to the sant jaume square where both were arguing meanwhile entering in the City Hall. Once you will be on the square, turn left to take the jaume street and keep straight, in few minutes, you should see the ciutadella park. At the end of the princesa street, turn left then the first street on your right, you should arrive to a big avenue where, on your left, there is the arc del triomf (triumph arch). Meanwhile waiting for the flight to go home, Franco was dreaming about his future son. |
Now take the metro L1 near the arch, direction hospital de bellvitge and get off at the next station to make a change, then take the L4 direction la pau and get off at the ciutadella vila olimpica station situated at the Sant Marti district. Once out, you will be in front of the icaria avenue. There is a scene where Filippo and Fosco were running to arrive on time for their wedding meanwhile arguing.
Just at very few meters from the metro station, take the first street on your right and keeping straight, you will arrive to the passeig maritim de la barceloneta street, very close to the beach. Turn right and in few steps, you will see the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (c/ doctor aiguader 88) near to the charles darwin square at the Ciutat Vella district. It was in this center where Franco and Manuela realized an assisted fertilization.
All along the passeig maritim street, it is the beach of the Barceloneta. Meanwhile Manuela was staying on the sand, Franco and his new italian friends went to swim.
Now let´s take back the metro to go to the Sagrada Familia (c/ mallorca 401) situated at the Eixample district, the closer one is the same station by which you came. Take direction trinitat nova and get off at the verdaguer station. From here, you will have the choice between:
- keep using the metro. In this case, take the metro L5 direction vall d´hebron and get off at the next stop
- or get out of the metro and walk about 7 minutes to reach the basilica. For that, once you are out, take the provença street located on your left and always straight.
Franco, Manuela and their friends were discovering the basilica meanwhile driving a convertible top car. Now take the metro L5 sagrada familia, direction cornella centre and get off at the sants estacio station at the Sants Montjuic district. Here, except the railway station, there is the espanya industrial park where Franco and Manuela received a call from the center about a good news.
Leaving the park, you will walk on the tarragona street until the espanya square to end the day. To be sure that you will be on the right direction, spot the only high red tower. After the Sagrada Familia, they arrived on this square with their convertible top car.
