International fantastic film festival of Catalonia
Sitges is a nice small town located in the outskirts of Barcelona where, in the beginning of the month of october each year, is celebrated the international fantastic film festival of Catalonia. This event represents a place where terror, fantastic and science fiction movies from any countries are presented and projected. An event that fans of those kinds of movies can’t miss at all including directors, producers and filmmakers. important movie festivals in the world and people have been able to see Quentin Tarantino, Jodie Foster, Sam Raimi, Robert Englund, Guillermo del Toro, Kim Ki Duk and much more.
During this festival, for the price of 8€, you can watch one of the movies in competition of the different sections like asian, terror, fantastic, japonese animation… If you plan to watch all, you can buy a pass or by buying, for example 10 tickets, you can get a discount of 10%.
To get the entrance ticket, you can buy it through internet or directly by going one of both places:
- Hotel Melià Box Office (tramuntana room), c/ de ramon dalmau s/n
- Miramar Building Box Office, c/ davallada 12
To go there, you can go by car or by RENFE train. By car, exit Barcelona by taking the street "gran via de les corts catalanes" which crosses "plaza espanya" and after just follow the indication to go to Sitges. By train, you can go to sants station or passeig de gracia station direction Sant Vicenç de Calders (L2) and get down at Sitges station. It will take you either by car or by train more or less between 40 minutes and 1h.
I recommend you the train because to park in the town, it is not easy during normal period so imagine during the festival !!! To know the full program and also to get more information, I recommend you to check its official website.
